What the extension does
MoonCow Tabs for Chrome syncs your open Chrome tabs with the MoonCow Tabs macOS app so you can search, switch, and manage those tabs from the app.
Data the extension handles
When you enable tab syncing, the extension reads the title, address (URL), window, active-tab status, and ordering information for your open Chrome tabs. It also creates a random local profile identifier and pairing token so that the MoonCow Tabs app can recognize the extension installation.
Purposes and legal basis
The extension processes this information solely to provide tab syncing and tab actions you request in MoonCow Tabs on the same Mac.
Legal basis (GDPR): Art. 6(1)(b) — processing is necessary to provide the extension service you request by installing and enabling it. Because tab data stays on your Mac and is not sent to our servers, we do not use this data for analytics, advertising, or profiling.
How data is used and shared
This data is used only to provide tab syncing and tab actions you request in MoonCow Tabs. The extension sends it only to the MoonCow Tabs app running locally on the same Mac through a loopback connection. MoonCow Interactive does not receive this data, and the extension does not send it to analytics, advertising, or third-party servers.
Storage and retention
The extension stores its connection port and pairing token in Chrome storage. MoonCow Tabs stores the current tab snapshot locally in its macOS app data so it can display your tabs. Turning off tab syncing stops future tab collection and removes the current snapshot for that Chrome profile from MoonCow Tabs when the app is connected. You can also remove extension data by uninstalling the extension.
Your choices
Tab syncing is off until you turn it on in the extension settings. You can turn it off at any time from the same settings page. Chrome also lets you uninstall the extension at any time from chrome://extensions.
Your rights under the GDPR
Where personal data is processed, you have the following rights against us:
- Access (Art. 15 GDPR)
- Rectification (Art. 16 GDPR)
- Erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
- Restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
- Objection, where applicable (Art. 21 GDPR)
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR)
Because tab data remains on your device, you can also delete extension and app data locally by turning off syncing, clearing Chrome extension storage, or uninstalling the extension. To exercise your rights, contact us at support@mooncowinteractive.com.
